Drain Rodding Service
Our engineers can be on site in a matter of hours in an emergency to unblock your drains.
Drain rodding is a quick drain unblocking method which we normally use in urgent situations.
It consists of inserting steel rods with a plunger or blade on the end into the blocked drain. The rods can negotiate difficult-to-access areas, and break up a range of obstructions, from household objects to tree roots.
For more stubborn or complicated blockages, however, you may require a different technique, like drain jetting. Our engineers are fully trained in drain rodding, as well as a number of other drain unblocking methods, and can determine the optimal method for your situation.

The signs you need drain rodding
- The water in your sink takes a long time to drain, doesn't drain properly or doesn't drain at all
- Water is backing up in your sink, shower or toilet
- There's an unpleasant, rotten egg odour in your home
- Your outdoor drains are overflowing, or there's a sink hole or wet patches in your garden
- Chemical drain unblockers aren't helping
Who's responsible for a blocked drain?
If the blocked drain is within the boundaries of your property, you're responsible for the blockage and having it cleared.
However, if you share a drain with your neighbour (for example, you live in a terraced house), the local water authority must unblock it. Or, if you live in a block of flats, the management company will have to clear the obstruction.
How to prevent blocked drains
- Always comb your hair before you have a shower or wash to minimise how much hair is washed down the drain
- Scrape excess food off of plates after you eat before you wash them up or put them in the dishwasher
- Pour unwanted oil and grease into a disposable container and then put that in the bin rather than washing it down the sink
- Make sure only human waste and toilet paper is being flushed down the toilet
